What is BACnet?

BACnet (Building Automation and Control Networks) is an ASHRAE/ISO/ANSI standard protocol designed specifically for building automation.

Unlike proprietary protocols (N2, PUP, CCN), BACnet is vendor-neutral. A BACnet device from any manufacturer can communicate with devices from any other manufacturer.

This means freedom: freedom to choose equipment, freedom to work with any integrator, freedom from vendor lock-in.

BACnet/IP
